Stretch Out That Pool Season!
Most people associate pools with only summer. But, weather permitting, swimming pools can be enjoyed through Indian Summer and well into fall in many areas around the country. The only caveat about mixing pools and autumn is the amount of time you’ll spend skimming leaves!
You pool owners know what I mean—one stiff September breeze, and suddenly that placid blue glassy surface is covered in gross yard debris! This is why a pool cover is an imperative tool in getting the most and best of your pool. Come this time of year, a cover not only helps retain the precious heat during those ever-shortening days, but it saves you the headache and annoyance of having to skim and clean filters every day.
I grew up with a large in-ground pool in Massachusetts, and the cover bought us
Ten Happy Little Piggies
Politics? Color me temperate. Food? Sure, I love to eat it, but it does not necessarily inspire infatuation. Sports? Couldn’t care less—and I really mean that. Sports could drop off the planet, and I wouldn’t even notice. Children? They are cute, but I don’t feel the need to have any of my own right now. However, I can think of one thing that not only inspires a great passion in me, but also causes me to actively seek it out, spending my hard-earned dollars as easily as water flowing to the sea. About which great item or concept am I referring? Shoes, of course!
I am only quasi-embarrassed to tell you that I own 5 pairs of boots, 14 pairs of high heels, 8 pairs of flip-flops, 3 pairs of gladiator sandals, 4 pairs of ballet flats, and 3 pairs of sneakers, and I don’t

For all our current-day faults, there is a growing trend towards more environmentally-friendly products and solutions. From Hybrid cars to organic sheets, many folks are starting to realize to importance of giving earth a break!
It is in this spirit that Gaiam operates, supporting interconnectivity and the
Late Summer Love
Late summer is a time for sitting on the porch swing and watching the golden-pink sunset, sipping an Arnold Palmer while the ice cubes clink together in the thick silence. It’s a time for Bocci Ball and Croquet while curling your toes in the cool morning grass with old friends cheering you on. It’s a time for catching fireflies in old mason jars, and picking tiny bouquets of buttercups along an old country road with your first crush. It’s a time for shopping farmer’s markets for those fresh, late-season vegetables at their ripest zenith, and taking them home and letting the whole family help you wash and prepare them. It’s a time to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather before it turns into crisp autumn, and you have to wait another whole year to feel that same
Show Off Your Unique Style with DecalGirl
Today I’m feeling like a cherub-esque shade of bubblegum pink, with some cute little EMO skulls to add of touch of girlie toughness. We’ll call it my “Hot Topic” mood. Friday my mood will be different; more playful and sophisticated perhaps in anticipation of my weekend. I would be thinking something more interior design-like; repeating abstract shapes in turquoise and rust with some yellow. That is such a hot color combination on a crisp, white background. There will definitely be times when I will want to go for the super unique and quirky one, like the photographic, very realistic light bulb. Something that will make other people wonder just why I chose THAT one.
What the heck am I talking about, you ask?
I’m talking about skins. I was literally shocked when I saw
