Green Thumbin’ It
Gardening has always been a favorite hobby for my parents. They are Master Gardeners, after all. They still spend hours every week outside, cultivating a beautiful backyard full of flowers, a pond, and a menagerie of birds swooping in to enjoy little morsels from one of many bird feeders.
I, on the other hand, have the opposite of a green thumb. It was a running joke growing up in our household that I’m domestically challenged. It’s not quite as bad as before—at least now I can cook—but I can officially add horticulturally challenged to that list as well.
I bought a pot of tulips the other day and promptly killed them. Don’t ask me what happened; I watered them just as instructed. I must not have the touch needed to be a quality gardener. And that’s okay, I guess. Although it does make me wonder how I’ll manage if I decide to have kids one day when I can’t even keep a measly plant alive…
But that’s neither here nor there. For those of you who CAN cultivate a few pretty things in your yard, it’s worth it to check out Burpee.com. They carry just about every seed imaginable—from vegetables to flowers—and the savings aren’t too shabby either. Burpee’s store page on WantACode features a number of deals including $5 off your purchase of $30 or more when you use coupon code FC53.
Haband.com is a good place to frequent as well. They specialize mainly in fashion and gadgets for the home, but their Home Outdoors section features some great plant care products, including innovative sprinklers and outdoor path lights. WantACode highlights the best Haband deals for you, and if you spend over $25 online, you’ll qualify for everyone’s favorite giveaway: free shipping.
Considering Target’s wide range of products, it’s no surprise really that the gardening enthusiast can find a few useful tools of the trade there. Summer is fast approaching, and Target’s sales on patio furniture and accessories reflect that. To add a little flair to your outdoor haven, stop by WantACode’s Target page to save a few bucks on decorative planters and outdoor decor.
As any landscape lover will tell you, it’s not just the greens that make a yard vibrant and welcoming; it’s also about the atmosphere. So get your little piece of refuge from everyday life in tip-top shape just in time to enjoy the summer season!
As for me, I think I’ll start small again. Just maybe not tulips this time. Wish me luck!
